Fareham is a big place, and it’s important that we have guidance that helps everything run smoothly and ensures that all our visitors, guests and residents can be safe, happy and well.
As we build our community, we’re developing some fundamental principles:
1. We’re committed to running Fareham in an ethical and sustainable way that celebrates the collective contribution of our guests, visitors and residents.
2. We welcome to Fareham anyone who shares our values. We aim to be inclusive for people from disabled, LGBTQI+ and neuro-diverse communities and to acknowledge tikanga Māori (values and customs). We’re always keen to learn and do more to make this so.
3. We ask everyone at Fareham to please be considerate of the environmental impact of their time here – to be careful with water use, to minimise waste and to maximise recycling.
4. Resident spaces are alcohol/drug-free and we keep a vegetarian kitchen without meat, fish or eggs. Guests are welcome to enjoy whatever suits them in the guest spaces. Guidelines for visitors depend on the type of event and activity. Please ask if you have any questions.
5. Fareham includes a small farm with livestock, so we don’t allow pets to visit. Assistance animals are very welcome.
6. Some parts of the property are out-of-bounds, to keep visitors safe and for the privacy of residents and workers. Please respect the ‘Private Space’ signs.
7. Fareham is a wonderful space for children, but they must be supervised at all times as some parts of the property can be hazardous, eg the fire escapes and the woodshed.
